Specialist divers have carried out underwater searches in the River Maun to find a missing Ollerton man.
Stan Shanks was last seen on Walesby Lane at 9.30am last Friday, April 29.
The 78-year-old’s disappearance has sparked searches by police, volunteers and specialist rescue teams but no trace of him has yet been found.
Notts Police say divers have already searched a stretch of river from the weir at Ollerton Island to the weir near Walesby Campsite, and an area of reed beds at Ollerton Pit Top Woods.
They were expected to search the fishing ponds, known as Little John Lakes, off Maida Lane, Ollerton, yesterday.
Mr Shanks was last seen wearing a green-hooded jacket, a red jumper, grey trousers and a cap. He is described as 5ft 3ins tall, of broad build, balding and wearing glasses.
His son Terry issued a video appeal on Monday for him to come home, saying: “Dad if you’re listening, please contact us, or contact the police, we desperately need to know that you are safe and well.”
Police are also encouraging the Ollerton public to check their shed, garage or any outbuilding for any sign of Stan.
Anyone with information about Mr Shanks’ whereabouts should call police on 101 quoting incident 417 of April 29.
