A person has died after falling from a bridge near the Newark Northgate station today (Nov 15), confirmed the British Transport Police (BTP).
A BTP spokesman said: “Shortly after 7.20am, today, British Transport Police were called to the line close to Newark Northgate station after reports a person had fallen from a bridge.”
Paramedics went to the site along with the officers, but the person was unfortunately declared dead at the scene.
Police are looking to identify him and inform his family.
“Officers are also working to establish the circumstances of how the person came to be on the tracks and receive their fatal injuries. A file will be prepared for the coroner,” the spokesman added.
Though the train services have been restored in Newark, access to the cycle path is still closed.
