Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has asked people with diarrhoea and vomiting symptoms to wait 72 hours before visiting the hospital to prevent the spread of Norovirus.

The Nottingham NHS Trust tweeted: “We have Norovirus on some of our wards. Don’t visit until free of D & V for over 72 hours.”

Norovirus is a common winter bug that has symptoms of headache, fever, nausea and body ache, however the contagious disease generally goes away by two days.

In 2016, Claremont Primary and Nursery School in Nottingham was forced to close when 80 of 400 children were suspected to be suffering from the viral disease.

To avoid contracting the unpleasant disease and dehydration it is advised to drink plenty of fluids.
