Lenton Boulevard in Nottingham

Police have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of burglary after an elderly woman from Lenton had items stolen from her house. 

The police believe that the vulnerable 87-year-old Nottingham woman was targeted by a burglar.

A report was lodged with the police on Monday 6 May stating a woman who lives in the Lenton area had items taken from her house.

These items included her purse which contained a small quantity of cash.

While police officers were at the victim’s home yesterday afternoon conducting enquiries they were alerted by a neighbour that a suspect was outside the victim’s address and had ran off.

Officers immediately carried out a search of the area and found out the neighbour who raised the alarm had chased the suspect from the property.

The suspect was later detained following a struggle with the police.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and common assault.

He remains in police custody.
