A theatre in Nottingham has launched a pen pal scheme to “keep our community connected”.
Nottingham Playhouse, located on Wellington Circus in the city centre, has set up the “inter-generational project” to connect those who are isolated as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement on their website, the playhouse says that the programme “aims to forge new friendships within the local community between people who wouldn’t otherwise cross paths”.
They added: “We know this small act of kindness will provide much-needed comfort and connection in a time when we could all use a bit of a boost.”
The theatre says that they are looking for care homes, hospitals and children’s homes to sign up their residents or patients.
All communication with pen pals will be via email.
