A 27-year-old man has been arrested after large quantity of drugs were found in the armrest following a pursuit and foot chase.

Officers were called to Curzon Street in St Ann’s at around 11.50am when they sighted a driver on his mobile phone, who then jumped a red light.

The incident occurred on May 21, when the driver failed to stop at Curzon Place.

He then proceeded to run off, but he was detained shortly after.

Officers seized a large quantity of class A drugs in the armrest of the car, believed to be in the region of £8-10,000 in value.

The man was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance, driving whilst using a mobile phone, fail to stop for police, dangerous driving and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Waldram said: “I’d like to thank the front-line officers who did some great work to detain the man after the pursuit and chase.

“We arrested the man and he has since been released under investigation.”
