Police are investigating after a man was found unconscious in an alleyway.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were alerted to the incident by the East Midlands Ambulance Service after a 51-year-old man was found in a path off Fairisle Close, Clifton just after 9pm yesterday (15 June).

He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening or altering.

Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas, of Nottinghamshire’s criminal investigation department said: “A member of the public discovered the injured man after hearing a noise.

“He was found unconscious in an alleyway next to a broken bottle of alcohol.

“We have spoken to the victim who was on his way back from the shops and has no memory of being injured.

“He has a single wound to his chest which is believed to have been caused by a sharp object. Thankfully he was not seriously injured.

“A scene is in place at the location and we’re continuing the investigative work today which includes checking nearby CCTV and carrying out house-to-house enquiries.

“We’re appealing to anyone in the area who might have any information that could help uncover what happened.

“Local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as we also increase regular patrols.”
