Labour Party Celebrates In Gedling

Results from local elections from Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are coming in after the country went to the polls yesterday

Ashfield and Bassetlaw have returned their results, with more councils to release later today.

Wards in Nottingham city council as well as other borough and district councils in Nottinghamshire are yet to release their result, but counting is underway.

Nottingham City Council, Gedling Borough Council and Bassetlaw District Council are expected to have a Labour majority.

Rushcliffe Borough Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council and Broxtowe Borough Council are predicted to remain Conservative.

Labour’s Andy Abrahams has been re-elected as mayor of Mansfield District Council by more than 9,000 votes.

More than 8,000 seats were contested in 230 councils over the country yesterday.
