A country music festival was cancelled in Nottingham just days before the event leaving customers frustrated and confused about what happens next.

The Monster Country Festival, which was to be at Southwell Racecourse in Nottinghamshire last Sunday (May 11) has now been postponed until September.

The family-friendly event is currently travelling the UK, with Nottingham set to be it’s second stop after having it’s opening day at Carlisle on Friday, May 2.

Commenting on Monster Country Festival’s Facebook page, hopeful festival-goers expressed their annoyance over the cancellation and lack of clear communication from festival organisers on how to receive a refund.

One customer said: “That is really bad.

“No announcement, just a hidden notification of change.”

Another added: “There’s still no option for refunds on these tickets.

“When will this be sorted?”

The festival did not post an announcement on any of their social media about the cancellation and postponing.

But they did reply to customer’s comments on Facebook to assure them the event would still go ahead in September, four months later than originally planned, saying: “It has been postponed not cancelled.”

They also said ‘refunds will be available’ and details on this would be in an email from Skiddle, the ticket outlet used by Monster Country Festival, if customers could not make the new date.

But the email sent to customers from Skiddle implied no immediate refund was available due to waiting on festival organisers to make the funds accessible.

Skiddle’s email said: “Your tickets will automatically be transferred to the new date and you do not need to take any further action.

“If you cannot make the new date, we are currently working with the event organisers to make available funds to allow for further options.

“We will be back in touch as soon as these become available. Thanks for your patience, we really do appreciate it.”

Skiddle also has a banner on their website to inform customers of the change, and a link to their email address for any queries surrounding the event.

The Nottingham event posting has since been removed from the website following the cancellation.

Further confusion surrounds the festival’s correspondance address which, according to the festival’s Facebook page, is at Carmarthen Showground in Wales.

But a spokesperson for the showground told CBJ News that while the festival was taking place there in June, they were not the festival’s permanent address.

Carmarthen Showground also confirmed that the festival organisers have applied for a licence with Carmarthen County Council and the event in June is still planning to go ahead.

The Monster Country Festival were approached by CBJ News but no comment was received.

CBJ News also approached Southwell Racecourse, but they did not provide a comment.
